If you are thinking about dermal fillers, you do not need to arrive at the clinic knowing how much filler you want. You may have a clear concern, such as lip definition or changes around your cheeks. You may simply want to understand your options. Either is a good reason to start with a conversation rather than choose an amount from a price list.
At Aesthetics of Downpatrick, I offer a free, 20-minute full-face assessment. We can look at your concerns together, talk about what you hope to change and decide whether filler is worth considering. There is no pressure to go ahead. The assessment is there to help you make an informed choice, including the choice to leave things as they are.
Start with what matters to you
Before discussing a product or an amount, I want to understand your goal. Is it the shape of your lips, a loss of volume through your cheeks or a change around the lower face? How long has it been bothering you? Is there an occasion coming up? These questions help us focus on the change you want rather than a treatment name you have seen online.
It is useful to bring details of any previous aesthetic treatment, including the date and product where you know them. Tell me about medicines, allergies and relevant health changes too. If you have photographs that help explain your concern, you can bring those along. We will discuss your own features and what is realistic for your face.
What can we discuss at a filler assessment?
I offer lip, cheek, chin and lower-face filler appointments, along with treatments for folds and lines around the mouth. There is also a full-face rejuvenation option for a wider plan. A consultation helps us look at how the areas relate to one another, rather than assume that the place you first noticed a change is the only area to consider.
For lip treatment, I offer 0.5 ml, 0.7 ml RHA Kiss and 1 ml RHA 2 options. We can discuss these amounts at your assessment; more filler is not automatically the right choice. I explain my recommendation, the proposed product and the change we are aiming for. If the treatment is unsuitable or unlikely to meet your expectations, that is part of the conversation too.
Understand the price before deciding
Lip filler appointments start at £150 for 0.5 ml. The 0.7 ml RHA Kiss option is £170 and the 1 ml RHA 2 option is £190. Cheek and chin treatments have their own prices, and full-face rejuvenation using up to 4 ml starts at £700. You can find all the options on our dermal fillers page, alongside appointment lengths and practical questions.
The amount of filler is agreed after assessment. We agree the proposed areas, amount and cost before treatment so that you know what you are considering. If you are deciding between an individual treatment and a wider plan, use the consultation to ask what each would address. I will explain what I recommend, why and what it would cost, so you can compare the options properly.
Leave room for recovery and questions
Filler can cause swelling, tenderness and bruising. Common reactions may take around two weeks to settle, so an early appearance is not always the settled result. Tell me about weddings, holidays and other important dates before choosing an appointment. Giving yourself time is more useful than trying to squeeze a first treatment into the days before an occasion.
We also discuss risks, comfort measures and aftercare before you decide. Filler treatment carries risks, including uncommon serious complications. You should understand those as well as the intended change. I explain how to contact the clinic afterwards and which symptoms need prompt attention. You can ask for another explanation whenever something is unclear.
You can take time to decide
A good consultation should leave you with a clearer picture of your choices. It does not need to end with a treatment booking. You may want to think about the information, discuss the cost at home or ask another question. You may decide that the change is not important enough to you to proceed. Those are all valid outcomes.
