Karen has 18 years of experience in nurse led clinics. She spent more than a decade specialising in women's health at Daisy Hill Hospital, working across cytology, gynaecology, urodynamics, GUM and sexual health services.
Helping women take control of their health and wellbeing has been a central part of her work. Karen is also an advocate for women going through perimenopause and menopause, helping them feel heard and better informed about this stage of life. Her experience and commitment to patient care have built her reputation as a specialist in women's health.
After leaving Daisy Hill Hospital, Karen became a prescribing practice nurse in a local GP surgery. Her work covers asthma, COPD and spirometry, alongside vaccinations, intramuscular and subcutaneous injections, and other day-to-day nursing care.
She trained in aesthetics at Array Aesthetics Academy in Belfast and has completed further training in advanced practices at Dr Bonny's Academy. Karen opened Aesthetics of Downpatrick in March 2023.
Karen is registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and is a member of the British Association of Medical Aesthetic Nurses (BAMAN) and the Aesthetic Complications Expert Group (UK).

about Karen.
Karen rarely has just one thing on the go. There's usually a course she wants to take, a project taking shape or a new idea she's already talking through. Once she has a vision, she puts her all into it. Finding enough hours in the day is another matter.
She's an open book, likes a straight answer and is happy to give one. Helping people comes naturally to her, whether that's talking through a concern, sharing something she's learned or getting stuck into a project she believes in.
Supporting women through perimenopause and menopause is something she cares deeply about. She wants those conversations to feel normal, with room for questions and honest discussion. Her own learning continues alongside that work.
Her creative side also gets an outing on stage with a local musical theatre company. Clearly, one more commitment was needed.
At home, Karen enjoys time with her husband, their boys and daughter, and their energetic nutcase of a cockapoo. Family time, a hike or a trip to the gym all have their place, along with finding somewhere new to visit or something new to try.
